Partner Nelson Thomas Provides Commentary On Termination Of Local Meteorologist
Nelson Thomas was recently quoted in a Democrat & Chronicle article discussing the termination of a local meteorologist for allegedly using a racial slur on air. The employee insists he misspoke and that is was an accident.
The article addresses the question: can the employee sue the television station and win if it was indeed an accident?
Mr. Thomas provided commentary to this question stating: “it’s hard to believe a pejorative use of a racial term could not face consequences from it. Even if it was an accident.”
Although the employee may have an uphill legal battle, Mr. Thomas emphasized that it “doesn’t mean a person cannot sue as it is the person’s right to file a lawsuit.”
